Prairie Ridge Senior Claire Reitz Receives Teach for McHenry County Scholarship

Prairie Ridge senior Claire Reitz received the Teach for McHenry County Scholarship for $5,000 from the Regional Office of Education (ROE). McHenry County ROE Superintendent Diana Hartmann, Prairie Ridge administrators, and her parents surprised her during her ninth period European History class on April 28.
The scholarship is awarded to a graduating high school senior living in McHenry County that plans to go into K-12 public school teaching. Applicants were required to write an essay about the impact of the scholarship on their future career and two letters of recommendation, with one coming from a school teacher or staff member. As the recipient, Reitz will also commit to take her first full-time teaching job in McHenry County.
After graduation in May, Reitz plans to attend Marquette University where she plans to study elementary education.
