Public Notice

To comply with the State of Illinois, the Operations Department has provided the required legal documents for certain projects, notices, and plans.

  • The United States Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA) published its Asbestos Hazard Emergency Response Act (AHERA) Regulations in 1986. These regulations require all local education agencies (LEAs) to have their buildings inspected for asbestos-containing building materials (ACBM), to have a written Asbestos Management Plan created, and to institute an Asbestos Operations and Maintenance (O&M) Program to train in-house personnel how to properly manage and work around the ACBM in their buildings. This posting serves as the annual notification that is required to be sent to all school district employees, parents, groups, and organizations to explain the Management Plans and any current relevant activities. The Management Plan is available for inspection in school buildings and the District Office located at 1 South Virginia Road, Crystal Lake, Illinois 60014.

The purpose of this Annual Notification is to explain the status and availability of the Asbestos Management Plan, to review recent asbestos-related activities in the school district, and to list the asbestos-related activities that are planned to take place in the upcoming calendar year.

    Upcoming Calendar Year Improvements

Ongoing capital improvements will continue in the coming year. Specific scopes of work and/or project awards have not been finalized. In the event that the finalized scope of work impacts a known ACBM area in which abatement will be required, a separate notification will be posted for the parents, teachers, and staff members of the affected school building. Prevailing Wage

Most school districts rely on the prevailing wages that the Department of Labor determines for their county. A 2019 amendment to the law means that most school districts no longer have to go through the steps of publishing the prevailing rates in the local newspaper. Instead, a district can simply post a notice to its website with a link to the Department of Labor’s published prevailing wages for the county. The Illinois Department of Labor's website includes links for all counties.
